BEACH TAG INFORMATION All persons 12 and over must display tags the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to Monday of Labor Day weekend, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Seasonal, weekly, and daily tags may be purchased at our Beach Tag Office, 95th Street & the Beach. 609.368.6805. And from inspectors on the beach or during the summer season.
Beach Tag prices are as follows:
Seasonal tags through May 31 - $35.00
Seasonal tags beginning June 1 - $40.00
Weekly tags (Sat. through Sat.) - $17.00
Daily tags - $8.00
Veterans tags are free. ID required.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Our lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 5pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Protected bathing beaches are 81st, 83rd, 86th, 87th, 90th, 93rd, 94th, 95th, 96th, 100th, 102nd, 103rd, 105th, 108th, 110th, 112th, 113th, 116th, 117th, 120th and 122nd.
Swimming and rafting beaches are all designated beaches except 81st, 86th, 105th, 110th, 112th, and 122nd Streets. Surfing and surfboards (with leases attached) are permitted at the beaches at 81st and 110th Streets only. Kayaks are permitted at 122nd Street through 126th Street only, and life jackets must be worn at all times while in the water.
Sailcraft must be licensed and beached at designated areas only. Vehicles are permitted on the beach by permit only from October 1 through March 31st. For information regarding permits, call 609.368.5102. Permits are issued the day after Labor Day until March the following year.

- Trash in plastic bags must be placed in rigid receptacles with tight-fitting covers.
- Do not place any trash or recyclables curbside! The Borough provides “rear yard” pickup. We ask that you put your address/house number on your trash cans and lids. It helps returning your cans/lids to your property shall they become airborne during any storm events in Stone Harbor.

*** Trash Collection Changes Effective July 11, 2022 ***
Please be advised that in accordance with Borough Ordinance No 1608, DPW personnel cannot enter into fenced yards with either pools or pets to collect trash and recycle bins, effective on July 11, 2022.
We request that you place your trash and recycling cans outside the fenced areas on the morning of your regular trash day to be collected by DPW Personnel. The cans will be returned to the location that you placed them.
The Solid Waste Convenience Center, located on 81st Street near Third Avenue, is also available for your use seven days a week.

DOGS ON THE BEACH
Dogs are permitted on the beach from 7pm to sunset, Friday of Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Monday. In the “off season,” leashed dogs are permitted on the beach at any time. Dogs are never permitted at our Stone Harbor Point Conservation Area. Picking up after your dog is mandatory.
DOWNTOWN PARKING
Throughout our business district, designated parking spaces and lots require payment from May 1st through September 30th, 10am to 9pm. Stone Harbor uses ParkMobile. Directions for using the app or scanning the QR code are available throughout the parking zones. Free parking is available at the 94th Street & Second Avenue Parking Lot. Residential parking is free.
BICYCLE SAFETY
Bikes and skateboards are not permitted on the roadway in the business district from the last Saturday in June through Labor Day between 6pm and midnight. No bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, or scooters are allowed on the sidewalk in the business district at any time. Cyclists must obey all traffic rules. When bicycling after dark, bikes must be equipped with a white blinking light. Persons under the age of 17 are required to wear an approved helmet when cycling, roller skating, in-line.

BEACH TAGS
Daily $8 - Weekly $17
Preseason $35 (per person if purchased on or before May 31) - Seasonal $40 (per person if purchased after May 31) Tags are reciprocal with the Borough of Stone Harbor and can be purchased at the Beach Tag Booth at 3001 Avalon Ave. between 10am-4pm, 609-967-5928.
PROTECTED BEACHES
For your protection, bathing and swimming are permitted only at protected beaches where lifeguards are on duty 10am to 5pm, June 7-Aug. 17. From May 24-June 7 and Aug. 17-Sept. 9, a limited number of lifeguards will be assigned to one or more designated beaches as available personnel permits. Rafts are permitted at any guarded beach. Kayaks (including inflatable and non-inflatable), and Bodyboards and/or Bellyboards with skegs are prohibited on any beaches in the Borough during the hours of 10am-5pm unless otherwise noted. By ordinance, Avalon’s beaches are closed daily from 11pm-4am.

BEACH VEHICLE PERMITS
Avalon offers beach vehicle permits that permit driving on the beaches between the dates of September 15-March 31 of each year. The cost of the annual permit is $50 and requires the vehicle to put a descriptive decal which shall be affixed to any corner of the rear window of the vehicle. All vehicles must obey a speed limit of 15mph. The permitted locations for entry to and exit from the beach by vehicles with valid permits are 9th, 20th, 32nd, 38th, 60th, and 79th streets when conditions permit. Vehicles are not allowed on the beach between midnight and 6am. Vehicles are available by visiting the Avalon Construction Office at Avalon Borough Hall, 3100 Dune Drive weekdays between 8:15am-4:15pm.
AVALON SURF CHAIRS
>9th, 30th and 80th streets.
>Reservations (no charge), call Beach Patrol at 609-967-7587 between 10am and 5pm; chairs cannot be reserved for more than one day at a time. Please refrain from using these chairs on the street. If you would like to reserve a surf chair during the off-season, please call the Recreation Department at 609-967-3066.
DOGS AND CATS
Dogs and cats must be licensed; an animal-control warden is employed by the Borough. DOGS ARE PROHIBITED FROM BEING ON THE DUNES AT ANY TIME; dogs are prohibited from being on the beach between March 1-Sept. 30. Dogs must be kept on a leash (when not confined) and their droppings must be retrieved immediately by the person in charge of the dogs.

Shopping in the unique stores in the town centers of Stone Harbor and Avalon is always fun, interesting and very productive. Just on the other side of the Garden State Parkway Exit 10 West “Stone Harbor Exit” you will find a TJ MAX and Marshalls. And on Route 9 (that runs parallel to the Parkway) from the Avalon Exit #13 West to Route 9 and South to Cape May you will find antique stores, the zoo, a very popular Christmas shop, Cold Springs Village and much more. Going north on Route 9 At the Avalon Exit #13 you will discover a small village of specialty shops just before you encounter Route 83.
