Beach Tags Available At Preseason Rate
Posted February 1st 2021

Seasonal beach tags for the Borough of Stone Harbor and the Borough of Avalon will be on sale this spring for the preseason rate of $25. The beach tags are reciprocal between the boroughs and are required for everyone 12 and older to use the beaches from May 28 through Sept. 6. The fees are: preseason (purchased on or before May 31) $25; season tag (effective June 1) $30; weekly (Saturday through Saturday) $13; and daily $6.
Designed by Avalon Elementary School eighth-grader Cynthia Sakoulas, the 2021 Avalon seasonal beach tag shows a beach scene, complete with an umbrella, sunshine, palm tree and beach towel. For 23 years, the school has held a contest to encourage students to create the artwork that will appear on the following year’s beach tag. A canvas rendering of Cynthia’s design will be added to the Beach Tag Wall in Avalon Borough Hall, where it will join the beach tag art from previous years.
Avalon tags can be purchased beginning March 2 through the Borough Tax Office via cash or check. Masks must be worn when entering Borough Hall, located at 3100 Dune Drive. Mail-in orders will also be accepted by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check, to be received before May 14. A receipt will be provided to be used to exchange for the 2021 tag. The beach tag booth at Avalon Community Hall will be open on weekends from 10am-4pm beginning April 3, and will be open daily starting May 1.
Stone Harbor’s 2021 seasonal beach tag design features the popular terrapin with dune grass. At the time this went to print, Stone Harbor’s Borough Hall, located at 9508 Second Ave., remained closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the holiday beach tags are available there by appointment until they sell out. Masks must be worn when entering Borough Hall and payment can be made via cash or check only.
The regular seasonal beach tags will become available the first week of March. At that time, individuals may also purchase tags via the mail by downloading the mail-in order form from the Borough website. The form must be received by May 31 to purchase the tags at the preseason rate of $25. The tags will be held under the buyer’s name at the Beach Tag Office located inside the Beach Patrol Building at 95th Street and the beach. The office will open in May for beach tag sales (via cash or check) and pickups. For more information, go to avalonboro.net or shnj.org. |
