Villano Wins Annual Beach Tag Art Contest

Posted December 20th 2018

Avalon Business Administrator Scott Wahl presents Dylan Villano with a proclamation and the first beach tag of the 2019 season.

Dylan Villano, an eighth grader at Avalon Elementary School, was recently announced as the winner of the annual beach tag art contest for the Borough of Avalon. A longstanding tradition in the Borough of Avalon for over 20 years, students are encouraged to create unique artwork for a chance to appear on the summer’s seasonal beach tag.

“I would like to congratulate Dylan on a job very well done,” Mayor Martin Pagliughi said. “It is always exciting to see so many tremendous renderings to consider each year for this contest. I look forward to seeing Dylan’s artwork every beach day in Avalon.”

Business administrator Scott Wahl presented Villano with a proclamation from Mayor Pagliughi and the very first tag of the season during the school’s holiday show. This year’s tag features a pair of red and black flip flops and the words “Avalon 2019.”

Beach tags are required on beaches in Avalon and Stone Harbor from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Tags remain reciprocal with the Borough of Stone Harbor and are available to active military at no cost.
